Silk Fitted Sheets
Silk fitted sheets are the most luxurious choice among fitted sheets. With their characteristically supple feel, their natural temperature regulation and their high skin compatibility, they offer a sleeping experience that no other fibre can provide in this form.
At Interior Couture you will find high-quality silk fitted sheets made of pure mulberry silk – produced in the tradition-steeped Plauen silk weaving mill. We are happy to send you a free, no-obligation fabric sample in advance so that you can experience the special feel for yourself.
What are silk fitted sheets?
Silk fitted sheets are made from the finest natural silk, usually from high-quality mulberry silk. This is regarded as the finest type of silk and comes from silkworms fed exclusively on the leaves of the mulberry tree. This special diet makes the thread particularly fine, long and even – the prerequisite for the very highest silk quality of all.
In contrast to smooth woven fabrics such as sateen fitted sheets or the elastic Jersey Fitted Sheets silk fitted sheets bring the sheen and suppleness from the fibre itself. Anyone who has once slept on silk fitted sheets knows the feeling: smooth, cool, almost weightless on the skin.
Properties of silk fitted sheets
- temperature-balancing – cooling in summer, warming in winter
- extremely light and breathable
- exceptionally absorbent without a clammy feel
- particularly kind to the skin
- naturally resistant to mites and odour formation
- supple and smooth – ideal for sensitive skin
Silk can absorb large amounts of moisture and release it again quickly. As our body loses up to 500 ml of fluid during the night, this property is particularly valuable. Hardly any other material can absorb so much moisture without feeling clammy.
Silk fitted sheets for every season
Contrary to the widespread assumption, silk fitted sheets are not a summer-only variant. Thanks to their natural temperature regulation they are suitable all year round.
In summer, silk feels pleasantly cooling, while in winter it retains body warmth and provides a cosy, light sleeping sensation. Especially in combination with premium Down Duvets or Eiderdown Duvets it fully reveals its strengths.
Silk Fitted Sheets for sensitive skin
Silk is naturally skin-friendly and is considered well tolerated by sensitive skin. The smooth fibre structure offers mites and bacteria hardly any surface to cling to, creating a hygienic sleeping climate – a noticeable advantage for allergy sufferers and people with sensitive skin or skin prone to atopic dermatitis.
The supple surface is gentle on the skin and can reduce friction. In the case of specific allergies, we recommend first satisfying yourself of the tolerability with a fabric sample.

Care of silk fitted sheets
It is often assumed that silk is complicated to care for. In fact, it is simpler than many think – provided you bear a few points in mind:
- Delicate wash at 30 °C
- use a mild silk detergent or delicate detergent
- wash separately, ideally in a laundry bag
- not in the tumble dryer and not through the mangle
- air dry, out of direct sunlight
- iron inside out, slightly damp, at a maximum of 110 °C
Be sure to avoid fabric softener and detergents with optical brighteners – both damage the delicate silk fibre. With the right care, silk fitted sheets will retain their sheen, their suppleness and their refined look for many years.
